Mission Statement

The International Education Committee of Ursinus College supports study abroad opportunities that immerse students in another culture and foster holistic learning. In particular, we seek to:
  • Challenge students’ cultural assumptions while promoting critical thinking and intellectual independence
  • Advance student’s individual academic interests in an international context
  • Promote civic engagement and social responsibility in the United States and abroad

We therefore strongly recommend that students abroad actively pursue and participate in any of the following:

  • Structured experiential learning opportunities such as internships, service learning, and/or student research
  • Sustained and meaningful informal interactions with locals including home-stays or residence with local students
  • Out-of-class activities with members of the local community: clubs, sports, religious observances, service, etc.
