Timeline for Approval of New and Recurring Faculy-led Study Abroad Programs

20, 2012 Goals: In order to promote equity among
faculty members, uniformity for the IEC, and the timely dissemination of
information for students, the IEC establishes the following timeline for the
proposal of new or ongoing faculty-led study abroad programs which goes into
effect at the start of the 2012-2013 academic year for programs proposed to run
in the 2013-2014 academic year or summer thereafter. Years are shown for
purposes of illustration.

All
new or recurring short term or semester
programs (i.e. Summer Study in Japan, Winter Costa Rica, Winter Senegal, UC in
Beijing, UC in Madrid, etc.) to be run in winter 2012-2013, summer 2013, or
academic year 2013-2014 must be finalized (and staffing assigned, budgets
completed, minimum enrollments established,
dates and details set) by this date and approved by the Dean. o
Center
for International Programs (CIP) announces/posts
online program offerings for summer 2013 and academic year 2013-2014. (This is
the official start of the new study abroad application season.) o
IEC
issues call for proposals to faculty for new and recurring programs to be
considered for launch in summer 2014 and academic year 2014-2015February
8, 2013 o Study abroad application deadline (for students)
o Deadline for IEC to respond to student applications
o Deadline for faculty to submit proposals for new or recurring programs to run in summer 2014 or academic year 2014-2015
o Deadline for students to appeal denials or changes to their study abroad applications
o Mandatory pre-departure orientation course begins (required of all students studying abroad in fall 2013)
o
IEC
reviews faculty proposals of new or recurring study abroad programs intended to
run summer 2014, winter 2014-2015, or academic year 2014-2015
o
IEC
makes a recommendation about proposals to the Dean
o
Dean
approves (or not) proposed faculty programs
o
CIP
announces/posts online program offerings for summer 2014 and academic year
2014-2015 programs |
