Returning from Study Abroad The excitement of study abroad does not have to end! Here are several ways you can gain more from your experience:
On campusPeer Advising. Join the Ursinus Study Abroad Peer Advisors
group which connects students who have studied abroad with those who
are planning to study abroad. Returning students serve as mentors,
assist in the application process, and answer questions about life
abroad. You can participate in this group as much or as little as your
schedule allows. Contact Maryanne Berthel for more information.Visit About Us to see a list of current participants. Campus Life. Get
involved in the many clubs and organizations that focus on
international or intercultural themes: Musser House, International
Students Organization, ALMA, Language Tables, SUN, SASA, etc.
Academics. Meet with your advisor to
see how you can get an International Studies Certificate in addition to
your major and/or minor. Contact Ambassador Joe Melrose for details.
Make your mark. Why not create a group,
club or event that fills a need that’s not being met? A study abroad
special interest house? Study abroad club? Study abroad film and lecture
series? If you want to make your mark on study abroad at Ursinus,
contact Melissa Hardin.

Make a Career
Every year the Office of International Programs at the University of Pennsylvania hosts the Delaware Valley Study Abroad Re-Entry Conference.
The half-day conference is held at the International House of
Philadelphia (a resource in and of itself for students returning from
abroad). For a nominal fee, student participants have the opportunity to
meet with many other returnees from colleges and universities all over
the Delaware Valley, learn about opportunities to work, volunteer and
study abroad before and after graduation, hear about international
careers and have lunch.
Teach Abroad. One way to go abroad again is through teaching English. Two programs you may want to consider are Council on International Education Exchange, which has year-long programs in Chile, China, Spain and Thailand; and JET Japan and Teaching English Programme. International Internships or International Careers. Contact the Career Services Office by stopping by Bomberger 110 or visiting their website
which includes a section on internships. Learn how to highlight your
study abroad experience in your résumé, how to find and land an
international internship and/or how to explore international careers.
See also the Directory of International Internships compiled by Michigan State University for an updated list of internships abroad.
Work, Teach or Volunteer Abroad. BUNAC
offers a range of programs from summer camp counseling in the USA and
Canada to work or volunteer programs in Canada, the USA, Australia and
New Zealand, Cambodia, South Africa and Ghana; as well as a range of
worldwide teaching overseas placements in the USA, China and many more
destinations.
Seek an international internship in the U.S.
One example is Australian Education International, located at the
Embassy of Australia in Washington, DC which offers paid summer
internships. The deadline for applications is 1 May. Interested
students and recent graduates should click here for instructions on how to apply.
