How to Choose a Program

Search for a program

You need to find a program that matches your academic needs and your personal objectives. Selecting a Study Abroad program can be difficult since there is a wide variety of programs from which to choose. There are many factors that you should consider: destination, field of study, program length, program term, course offerings, language of instruction, etc. When you are searching for a program, try to answer the following questions in order to determine which one is right for you:

  1. Where do I want to study abroad?
  2. When do I want to study abroad?
  3. How long do I want to study abroad?
  4. What do I want to study abroad?
  5. What are the pros and cons of faculty-led programs, non-UC programs designed for US students and non-UC programs at overseas universities?
  6. How much do I want to improve my foreign language skills?
  7. What can I learn from and contribute to an internship or community service project abroad?
  8. How will my grades and credits transfer and how will that affect my standing at Ursinus?
  9. How much is the cost-of-living where I want to study and what are my financial resources?
  10. What will I learn by living on campus in a dorm, with a host family or in a student apartment?
